VICTORIA — Funding for rural communities in British Columbia just got a boost.
The Government of British Columbia has announced plans to deliver $10 million each to the Island Coastal Economic Trust, Northern Development Initiative Trust and the Economic Trust of the Southern Interior.
The $30 million total funds will be part of a legislative amendment scheduled for introduction this fall, according to a news release.
“Rural B.C. is the backbone of our province and by continuing to support new opportunities for economic development and diversification, everyone benefits,” said Brenda Bailey, minister of jobs, economic development and innovation, in the release.
The funds are intended to help the three rural economic trusts support innovation and investments into leading-edge projects that help businesses thrive and infrastructure projects, states the release.
