April 29 marks two significant historical dates for Canadian Military Engineers: July 1, 1903, when the incorporation of elements of the Regular Force was authorized under the description of the Canadian Engineer Corps; and April 29, 1936, the date of the approval of the Royal Canadian Engineers, on which permanent and non-permanent sappers were united under a single unique cap badge.
