The Canada BIM Council (CanBIM) is hosting a regional session at the Wosk Centre for Dialogue in Vancouver June 5. The conference will include presentations by Division 15 Mechanical Ltd. on their experiences as an early adopter of BIM and a panel on BIM lessons learned at the pharmaceutical sciences building project currently under construction at the University of British Columbia.

The Canada BIM Council (CanBIM) is hosting a regional session in Vancouver June 5, the fourth in a series. The theme is building information modeling in practice.

The agenda includes: presentations by personnel from Division 15 Mechanical Ltd. on their experiences as an early adopter of BIM; a panel on BIM lessons learned at the pharmaceutical sciences building project currently under construction at the University of British Columbia; and an overview of the possibilities of using BIM in small architectural practices to support sustainable design strategies.

An update on council activities will also be provided at the afternoon event, being held at the Wosk Centre for Dialogue on West Hastings Street.

CanBIM is expecting between 40 and 50 attendees, representing a mix of contractors, architects, engineers and academics as well as both members and non-members of the council.

Previous sessions have been held in Toronto, Edmonton and Montreal.

The council said the regional sessions provide “a great opportunity” for industry professionals to meet with their colleagues and discuss the latest developments in BIM.

“Overall, the overwhelming response has been that there is great value in meeting and conversing with like-minded professionals who are seeking to get involved in the process of BIM,” a spokesman said.

Registration fees are $95.00 for CanBIM members, $160.00 for non-members and $35.00 for students.
