Skills Ontario, Insurance Bureau of Canada partner to benefit underrepresented youth

TORONTO — The Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) is partnering with Skills Ontario and joining as a premium partner of the Skills Ontario Diversity, Equity and Inclusion program to provide support for the Skills Ontario First Nations, Métis and Inuit Initiatives.

As a not-for-profit organization, Skills Ontario relies on the support of its partners to deliver programs to young Ontarians. Initiatives include conferences and workshops for (but not limited to) Black youth, Indigenous youth, people of colour, newcomers, youth at risk and people with exceptionalities.

“IBC is pleased to support Skills Ontario and the important work the organization is doing to encourage everyone to consider a rewarding career as a skilled trade and technology professional,” said Kim Donaldson, vice-president, Ontario, in a statement. “The insurance industry relies on skilled trade professionals to repair homes, businesses or vehicles that have sustained an insured loss. We want to do our part to help close the skilled trade gap, as a complement to our industry’s sustained efforts to bring in talent to the property and casualty insurance sector.”
