Hurd named new executive director for ACEC-Ontario

MISSISSAUGA, ONT. — Andrew Hurd has been chosen as the next executive director for the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies – Ontario (ACEC-Ontario), the board of directors announced recently.

He will assume the role July 24. Bruce Matthews, the current executive director, will be staying on to ensure a smooth transition, the association says.

Hurd has been the director of policy and stakeholder relations at the Ontario Road Builders Association (ORBA) since October 2017.  His prior experience includes over 12 years with the Government of Ontario in a variety of roles, including advisory and senior advisory capacities with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Transportation (MTO), the Ministry of Indigenous Affairs and the Office of the Premier.

Hurd has also been one of ORBA’s representatives within the Construction and Design Alliance of Ontario.

In his role at ORBA, he established relationships with many of the public-sector infrastructure agencies that are key to ACEC-Ontario, including MTO, Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario, indicates a release.

One of Hurd’s responsibilities will be implementing the board’s new strategic plan, which was approved earlier this year, as well as engagement with members, stakeholders, volunteers and allies.
