KELOWNA, B.C. — Kelowna is getting a rental housing boost.
Construction began last week on PC Urban Properties and Nicola Wealth Management’s new six-storey purpose-built rental unit at 1605 Gordon Dr.
The building will feature 192 dedicated rental units, a 50-space long-term child care centre, a two-level parkade with 213 stalls, an outdoor amenity space with a community garden, barbecue, dining area and fire pit and an indoor gym, reads a press release.
Of the 192 units, 52 per cent are family friendly two- and three- bedroom rentals. The building also boasts EV charging and care share services.
“PC Urban is committed to providing much needed rental housing, and this is attainable new housing in an area with a below 0.6 per cent vacancy. This is the only rental building in Kelowna with a secured, in perpetuity day care,” said PC Urban’s Chief Financial Officer Shawn Smith in the release.
Kelowna Mayor Tom Dyas shared his enthusiasm about the project.
“This is a really well envisioned and planned project that we are thrilled to see in Kelowna. These purpose-built rental homes are exactly what we need to fill in that missing middle housing that is suitable for families and with great amenities,” said Dyas.
Construction is anticipated to end in Q3 2025.
