TORONTO — Emergency repair work is now underway on the southbound portion of the Dufferin Street Bridge in Toronto after damage was discovered last week.
The repairs could take up to two months to complete.
The bridge, located at Dufferin Street south of Springhurst Avenue, is currently closed to vehicle traffic. Southbound traffic is being diverted along Springhurst Avenue and the northbound lane and the pedestrian sidewalk will remain open.
“Repairs to the bridge’s southbound lane are expected to take up to two months,” said the city in a statement to the Daily Commercial News. “However, city staff will work to complete the repairs quickly and minimize the closure period.”
The city will be installing message signs, adjusting traffic signals in the area and deploying paid duty officers if necessary to manage traffic.
Road users in the area are advised to plan travel in advance, allow extra time and consider public transit.
More information on road closures is available at www.Toronto.ca/RoadRestrictions.
