A $29 million bridge replacement is currently underway in Fort McKay, a small hamlet in northern Alberta.
Alberta Transportation is providing about $8 million in partial funding for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo project. The two-lane bridge over the McKay River also includes a pedestrian walkway on one side. Work started in late 2013 and is expected to open to traffic later this year and be fully completed by June 2015. The old bridge is to be removed this winter. Stantec did the design for the modern crossing while ICCI is the construction manager/contractor.
