Quebec real estate firm SITQ announced Tuesday that Verreault Construction will supervise a $7.5 million renovation project at Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac, a hotel in Quebec City.
The hotel, which was built in 1893, plans to replace its original copper roof.
SITQ, the real estate subsidiary of the Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec, expects the project will continue until the end of 2012.
The copper weighs 36,285 kg and SITQ expects local artists will re-use at least 25 per cent of the original copper.
