LEWISVILLE, TEXAS – Metl-Span insulated metal panel technology company has named Madison Yards, a mixed-use development in Madison, Wisc. as its 2023 Building of the Year.
Madison Yards is a 21-acre mixed-use development which includes 200 residential units, 11,000 square feet of retail space, green space and a 50,000-square-foot Whole Foods.
“We were proud to be able to deliver a solution for this vibrant development that will be providing home, retail and office space to so many in the surrounding communities,” said Jeff Gosz, sales representative at Metl-Span, in a statement. “We were able to meet the team’s demands on a variety of fronts, which ultimately made Metl-Span a preferred solution.”
KTGY, the architect for the project, specified a design featuring a grey façade with blue accents. The bulk of construction took place in Wisconsin’s winter and a building envelope was required that would have a strong thermal barrier and could be installed quickly. Metl-Span used its own architectural panels for the project.
Crews installed more than 55,000 square feet of Metl-Span products on the building’s exterior. The installer on the project was Wenger Construction, Inc. and the general contractor was CD Smith Construction, Inc.
The Building of the Year award program is chosen through a survey conducted by Metl-Span employees and “honors the innovative work and collaboration amongst architects and other construction professionals to bring compelling, smartly designed and energy-efficient buildings to life,” a Metl-Span release said.
As the winner of the Building of the Year competition, Madison Yards will be featured on the cover of a 2024 commemorative book developed by Metl-Span that will be distributed to sales representatives, customers, industry professionals and Metl-Span employees.
