CBS to air U.S. national plumbing competition

TAMPA, FLA. — The U.S. is set to crown its first national champion plumber in a competition set for Tampa, Fla.

Five plumbers advanced to the championship through the Elite Trades Championship Series.

The finals were to be held on Oct. 27 and the CBS Sports Network will televise the Trades Championship finals in December.

The plumbers were joined by auto technicians, electricians and HVAC techs for competition in Tampa.

Over four months regional competitions whittled the field down to the top five plumbers vying for the Plumbing National Champion title and their share of a $20,000 prize.

The five finalists were Craig Childress from Massachusetts, David McDonough from Indiana, Joe Jaspers from Ohio, Justin Coutu from Virginia and David Shanor from Virginia. They were flown to Tampa with all expenses paid for the week’s final round of competition.
