BOISBRIAND, QUE. — Huntsman Building Solutions has announced the completion of two large retirement home projects in Quebec.
The firm partnered with Metrotec P.G.B. Insulation on a senior home revitalization project, Maison Des Aînés/Maison Alternatives, and with Isolation Algon and general contractor Groupe CH on the Liva Mirabel project.
In both cases the work involved building envelopes using Huntsman’s closed-cell spray foam insulation treatment. The projects required thermal insulation, water resistance, mold resistance and air and vapour barriers, stated a recent release.
The Maison Des Aînés/Maisons Alternatives project involved 46 residences across Quebec. The owner was able to achieve LEED V4 for structural integrity of the building and environmental standards.
“We understood the importance of beautiful, engaging, comfortable spaces that would allow residents to live the life they deserve, and knew that we needed a flexible, high-performance product to deliver on that vision. As always, we worked with Metrotec to deliver something fantastic,” stated Mickel Maalouf, Huntsman sustainable building science manager, in a statement.
Project Liva Mirabel is a residential complex for active retirees with 348 apartments. Smart devices allow residents to control lighting and temperature for their dwellings.
