HAMILTON — The federal government has announced $2.5-million in funding towards the expansion of BECC Modular, a manufacturer of modular homes based in Hamilton.
The firm specializes in modular homes for affordable housing projects and commercial properties, stated a release. The funding will boost the firm’s steel frame manufacturing capabilities, enabling it to produce up to 2,200 modular structures per year for single and multi-storey buildings across Canada and abroad.
The funding was delivered through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.
The project is expected to create 35 new jobs in the Hamilton region. Founded in 2020, the firm employs 75 and uses certified recycled steel as its primary building material.
“This is the right investment at the right time. BECC Modular has access to the right labour and materials in Hamilton to scale up dramatically our production output and respond rapidly to the ever-increasing demand for housing of all types,” said BECC Modular CEO Ali Ozden in a statement.
