VAUGHAN, ONT. — The Residential and Civil Construction Alliance of Ontario (RCCAO) has made 2024 budget recommendations, in a formal letter to Ontario Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy, which asks for continued investments in new critical infrastructure.
The recommendations include:
- advance work on Highway 413, the Bradford Bypass and Ontario Line;
- investment in state-of-good-repair-work to maintain existing infrastructure assets;
- and creation of incentives for municipalities to adopt the provincial OPSS1010 standard for increased use of recycled aggregates in road construction.
In the RCCAO budget recommendations they also asked the government to improve Ontario’s underground utility locates system by imposing automatic fines on delays and speed up locates delivery to mitigate costly delays.
“Ontario is rapidly growing and its critical infrastructure needs to keep pace,” said Nadia Todorova, executive director of RCCAO, in a statement. “Acting on these priorities will make it easier to build and achieve the government’s policy goals of alleviating gridlock and ending Ontario’s housing crisis.”
