FAIRFIELD, CONN. – Renovations on Sacred Heart University’s (SHU) William Pitt Athletic and Convocation Center will begin in the spring.
The facility, which serves as the heart of SHU’s athletics, will see a major facelift as the 2,000-seat multipurpose arena will rotate its court 90 degrees and be surrounded by permanent bleacher-style and backed arena-style seating, a release said. Further upgrades include the addition of a mezzanine for VIP seating and events, video boards, sound systems and lighting.
SHU will partner with the S/L/A/M Collaborative architecture and construction firm to complete the renovations in time for next year’s basketball season, the release said.
The Sacred Heart Pitt Center, which opened in 1997, is a three-floor facility which includes basketball courts, a fitness center, rehab rooms, locker spaces and a weight room and also serves as a gathering space.
