SC Johnson to expand Brantford plant

SC Johnson to expand Brantford plant

RACINE, WIS. —Wisconsin-based manufacturer SC Johnson has announced it will invest nearly $50 million to expand its plant in Brantford, Ont., the first phase of a larger expansion planned for the site.

The plant, located on Webster Street, currently produces candles and other personal-care products. The plant expansion will enable the production of new product lines.

The next phase will include expansion of the firm’s warehousing and distribution footprint in Brantford, stated a release. The program would combine existing centres in Canada.

The SC Johnson plant has been operating in Brantford for over 100 years.

The decision to proceed follows the resolution of a provincial land and development facilitation process to keep 58 Morrell St., adjacent to the SC Johnson facility, zoned industrial.

“Today marks an important moment in the history of SCJ Brantford. I am incredibly relieved, as is the entire SCJ team, to have this rezoning situation resolved. With this behind us, we now have the clarity and the necessary confidence to move forward with the investment needed to keep our Brantford facility strong and healthy,” stated SC Johnson CEO Fisk Johnson in a statement.
