OTTAWA — The recipients of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada’s (RAIC) annual awards, which consist of architectural practices, projects and initiatives that illustrate the dynamic environment of Canadian architecture today, were recently recognized.
The Architectural Practice award, which recognizes a Canadian architectural practice that has consistently produced distinguished architecture, went to Dubbeldam Architecture + Design.
The Emerging Architectural Practice Award, recognizing an emerging Canadian architectural practice that shows exceptional promise for contributing significantly to the future of architecture, was awarded to Peter Braithwaite Studio Ltd.
BEAT was the recipient of the RAIC Advocate for Architecture Award which celebrates an individual, or collective of individuals, who has acted as a public champion for the advancement of Canadian architecture through their advocacy, patronage and/or other forms of support.
The RAIC Research and Innovation in Architecture Award, awarded to Patkau Architects Design Lab, recognizes an architect, architectural practice and/or academic researcher who has demonstrated excellence in research and innovation in architectural practice, technology, or pedagogy.
Jim Taggart and The Edit won the RAIC Architectural Journalism and Media Award recognizing an architect, architectural practice or individual that presents a narrative about architecture which promotes public understanding and awareness of architecture, the role of architects and their impacts on society, and/or the value of design and design excellence.
