Calgary announces $7.3 million Crowchild Trail maintenance

CALGARY – The City of Calgary has started maintenance on Crowchild Trail N.W. from Stoney Trail N.W. to 32 Ave N.W. as part of the city’s annual paving program.

The project cost is $7.3 million which is part of the annual paving program budget for 2024, a City of Calgary release said.

The scope of work includes asphalt roadway repair and replacement and localized concrete repair and replacement of sidewalks, wheelchair ramps, curbs, barriers and gutters.

The construction schedule is as follows:

June – July

  • Milling and paving westbound and eastbound lanes of Crowchild Trail N.W. from Brisebois Drive N.W. to Stoney Tr N.W.
  • Concrete rehabilitation of on and off ramps along Crowchild Trail N.W.
  • Concrete barrier replacement along Crowchild Trail N.W. C-Train line from Brentwood Station to Northland Drive N.W.
  • Stormwater drainage upgrades, concrete replacement and milling and paving of westbound and eastbound lanes of at Shaganappi Trail overpass.

July 5 – July 14

  • Construction shutdown during Calgary Stampede

July – September

  • Concrete rehabilitation followed by top lift paving on westbound and eastbound lanes of from Brisebois Drive N.W. to Stoney Tr N.W.
  • Milling and paving of on and off ramps along from Brisebois Drive N.W. to Stoney Tr N.W.
  • Milling and paving intersection of Crowchild Trail N.W. and 5 Ave N.W.
  • Milling and paving westbound and eastbound ramps at Crowchild Trail N.W. and 32 Ave N.W.
  • Continue milling and paving westbound and eastbound lanes of at Shaganappi Trail overpass.

Completion of construction is expected by mid-September.
