GUELPH, ONT. — Wastewater treatment specialist Waterloo Biofilter Systems Inc. of Guelph, Ont. has announced the acquisition of RH2O Inc., a technical consultant to the sector.
The deal upgrades Waterloo Biofilter’s overall tech capacity, stated a release. RH20 is a specialist in advanced moving bed biofilm reactor technology (MBBR), and Waterloo Biofilter said it intends to integrate RH20’s product line into its proprietary trickle filter technology, enabling it to address a wider range of wastewater treatment needs, from low concentration influent and small flows to high concentration and high-flow requirements.
Waterloo Biofilter will service existing RH2O customers moving forward.
RH20 is based in Breslau, Ont. Its technology is used in the treatment of high-strength wastewater, in particular the removal of biochemical oxygen demand and total suspended solids. The combined service line will mean more efficient nutrient removal, including nitrogen and phosphorus, stated Waterloo Biofilter.
“This acquisition adds depth and substance to our total offering, while augmenting our objective to lead the North American wastewater treatment solutions market,” said Waterloo Biofilter CEO Dan Madon in a statement. “We’re thrilled to integrate RH2O’s remarkable technology, and we welcome their talented team to our Waterloo operation.”
