TORONTO – Toronto police are reporting that the worker who was rescued earlier this evening atter being trapped in a trench at a residential construction site has died.
Toronto Fire Services told the Daily Commercial News that a call came in around 5:15 p.m. today (Aug. 13) that a worker was trapped in a trench about four metres deep at 28 Ravensbourne Cres. in Etobicoke.
When crews arrived fellow workers were trying to dig him out. After about an hour, the worker, which Toronto police report is a man in his 30s, was freed and rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was later pronounced dead.
The Ministry of Labour has reported that the constructor is Inter-Pro Service Interlocking.
Two ministry inspectors visited the jobsite and one requirement was issued to Inter-Pro Service Interlocking.
The investigation is continuing.
