WINDSOR, ONT. – The construction partners on NextStar Energy’s new lithium-ion battery plant project in Windsor, Ont. have announced the achievement of a major safety milestone, marking five-million safe work hours completed on the site.
The Provincial Building and Construction Trades Council of Ontario along with Alberici-Barton Malow JV, the design-builder on the project, released a statement that noted that the project is now 68 per cent complete. The announcement was attributed to Marc Arsenault of the Building Trades, Alberici vice-president Sean Thibeault and Barton Malow director Gene Gardela.
“With the professionalism of Ontario’s skilled trades workforce, we are proud of what we have achieved together and look forward to completing the remainder of this project safely,” the release stated. “Work opportunities, like the jobs created through the NextStar Energy project, are the best way to secure access to stable careers, and provide the training and apprenticeship opportunities that create the next generation of skilled tradespeople.”
