OAA seeks speakers for 2025 conference and webinar presenters

TORONTO—The OAA has issued a call for speakers for the 2025 Conference in Ottawa as well as for online learning opportunities in the new year.

The OAA is looking to Ontario architects and other experts and thought leaders outside the profession to propose ideas for in-classroom lectures and in-the-field experiential learning. All topics relevant to the architecture profession are welcome including legal issues, project case studies, urban revitalization, inclusive design, advancements in design tools as well as climate action and equity, diversity and inclusion.

The conference will be held at the Hotel Westin Ottawa from May 14 to 16, 2025 and will focus on the architecture profession’s role in Reshaping Communities. The event will examine how places guide people’s behaviour and how an evolving built environment can effectively respond and reflect societal changes, states a release.

The conference also aims to include explorations of urban revitalization, adaptive reuse, inclusive design, reconciliation, the intersection of the built and natural environments and the profession’s ability to respond to new challenges and opportunities.

Those interested are asked to fill in the OAA’s online form to share more about themselves and their topic. The deadline for submission is Friday, Oct. 18.

The OAA’s weekly Continuing Education Webinar Series explores a variety of topics related to architecture. This fall, there will be sessions related to subjects like Ontario’s new Building Code, mass timber and embodied carbon. The association is seeking ideas for webinars for the first half of 2025. To submit a proposal to host a session, complete the association’s online form before Monday, Sept. 30.
