Dorothy Hector, a Kingston, Ontario city councillor, was re-elected to the board of directors of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. She plans to work with eastern Ontario politicians to lobby for long-term federal infrastructure funding after the Building Canada Plan expires in 2014.
Dorothy Hector, a Kingston, Ontario city councillor, was re-elected to the board of directors of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities last weekend.
"Almost $2 billion dollars a year in federal infrastructure funding for municipalities like Kingston will end when the federal government's Building Canada Plan expires in 2014," Hector stated in a press release June 4. "Part of my work will be to mobilize South Eastern Ontario municipalities and Kingston to make their voices heard at the upcoming roundtable discussions on the federal government's new long term infrastructure plan."
At the recent FCM conference in Saskatoon, the organization launched an advocacy campaign on infrastructure funding, dubbed Target 2014: Building our future.
