Arup names Thomas Rapley as water business leader in Canada

TORONTO — Arup, a global sustainable development consultancy, has announced Thomas Rapley as its new water business leader in Canada.

Based in Toronto, Rapley will oversee and lead significant water commissions, grow and nurture client relationships and deliver projects across advisory, consultancy and engineering service offerings, a release states.

He has more than two decades of municipal infrastructure design and construction experience in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. He has spent the last 18 years of his career involved in a wide range of water-related planning, strategy, design and construction projects in Ontario and across Canada.

Most recently he completed work on the 40-megalitre Victoria Reservoir in Peel Region.

“I look forward to growing Arup’s water business in Canada and being a hands-on contributor across the various stages of our projects,” said Rapley in a statement. “Water, in all its forms, connects us all and is critical to every aspect of the built and natural environment, and is our most precious resource. I’m excited to be playing a key role in water here at Arup for our current generation, and those to come.”

Arup works across the entire water cycle, with utilities, local and regional governments, commercial and domestic water users and other partners.
