WINNIPEG — Preliminary work is now underway to repair and reconstruct sections of Provincial Road (PR) 224 from PR 325 through Peguis First Nation to Fisher River Cree Nation.
“Last year’s spring weather caused significant damage to PR 224, but we are committed to improving safety and better connecting communities in the area,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Lisa Naylor in a statement.
“This $18.3-million project recognizes the importance of PR 224 as a vital roadway serving Peguis First Nation, Fisher River Cree Nation and the region as a whole.”
The project includes repairs and asphalt resurfacing on 45-kilometre section of PR 224.
The construction contract was recently awarded and initial work is underway with completion expected in the fall of 2025, noted the release.
