TORONTO

Self-employed consulting engineer Denis Dixon has been installed as the 93rd president of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), the licensing and regulating body for professional engineers and engineering in the province.

During his term of office, Dixon’s priorities include focusing on fiscal responsibility for the association and engaging council and the membership to increase the relevance of self-regulation and licensure in the profession.

A consulting engineer with years of international experience, Dixon has completed projects in building services design in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Pakistan. He received his engineering degree in 1961 in Liverpool in the United Kingdom and his P.Eng. designation in Ontario in 1966.

PEO said Dixon has been a dedicated volunteer and an influential force at the association for more than 20 years, during which time he served four terms as a PEO councillor-at-large and chaired or was an active member of many key committees and task forces. He became president in mid-May.
