Roof and interior work progresses on the Ontario Power Generation Darlington Energy Complex (DEC) in Clarington, Ontario.
McKay-Cocker Construction Ltd. began the three-storey, design-build facility in June 2011 for owner Ontario Power Generation and it is scheduled to be operational by summer 2013. The new facility, designed to meet LEED Silver certification, will have offices for 450 staff, a public information centre, security processing centre, auditorium and warehouse space, a technology advanced training centre and a tool testing facility.
The project was designed by Spriet Associates and consultants are: Kolostat Canada Inc. (design-build mechanical); Dial One Wolfedale Electric (design-build electrical) and Ron Koudys Landscape Architects. Subtrades include: Boyle Excavating Ltd.; Drillco Foundation Co. Ltd.; Alliance Concrete Forming; Albrecht Reinforcing Steel (rebar); Tresman Steel Industries Ltd. (structural); Lafarge Canada Inc. (concrete); G & A Masonry Ltd.; Tosca Tile; Vipond Fire Protection; Cruz Interiors (drywall); Ritz Metal (siding); Westmount Storefront Systems (glazing); Schindler Elevator Corp.; Forans Roofing and Empire Paving.
