Extraction Shaft for TBM’s (“Yorkie” and “Torkie”) extraction is completed, concrete and excavation continues for the Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension (TYSSE) – Steeles West Station in Toronto, Ont.
General contractor is Walsh Construction Company Canada and the owner/developer is Toronto Transit Commission. The $166-million project includes a four-storey subway station consisting of two on-grade structural steel entrance buildings, one below grade reinforced concrete structure, a 12-bay bus terminal, green roof and a power substation. Completion of the TYSSE is expected by fall 2016 and the project was designed by SGA/IBI Group Associates.
Consultants are: Halsall Associates Ltd. (structural) and H.H. Angus Associates Ltd. (mechanical/electrical). Subcontractors include: New Alliance Ltd. (excavation); Deep Foundations Contractors Inc.; Harris Rebar; Limen Structures, Ltd. (formwork); Global Precast Inc.; Benson Steel (structural); Core Metal Inc. (weathering steel); CBM Concrete; Limen Group (masonry); Bird Mechanical Ltd.; Interborough Electric; Forest City Fire Protection; AGC Flat Glass; Flynn Canada Ltd. (roofing); Selco Elevators Ltd.; Schindler Corp. (escalators) and Ashland Paving.
