Miller Thomson LLP recruits new lawyers

MONTREAL—Five leading Québec construction lawyers have been recruited to Miller Thomson LLP’s Montreal group.

Partners Guy Gilain LL.L. and Jasmin Lefebvre LL.M., as well as associates Yannick Forget, Philip Thibodeau and Gerry Argento have joined the firm from De Grandpré Chait, explains a release.

This makes the combined team one of the largest groups dedicated to construction law in Québec.

"This is a very significant event for construction law in Québec," said Louis-Michel Tremblay, co-chair of the firm’s Montreal construction practice, in a statement. "We have brought together the top practitioners in the field under one roof, resulting in a team with unparalleled reach within the industry. The benefit for our clients will be substantial."

Miller Thomson has more than 80 lawyers with experience in all aspects of construction and infrastructure in its 11 offices across Canada, the release continues.

"Our decision to move to Miller Thomson was strategic and focused on full development of our practices and the reinforcement of our services toward our clients," said Lefebvre. "While our majority focus will remain on the Québec market, we see substantial benefit working within a national framework."

Miller Thomson’s construction group provides advice to public and private owners, general contractors, subcontractors, design professionals including architects, engineers, real estate and project developers, material suppliers, and insurers. The firm’s lawyers also act for institutional lenders, bank and non-bank lenders and borrowers in both traditional and alternative delivery projects, the release states.
