Design / Build - Weyburn General Hospital Project

Scope

Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Weyburn, Saskatchewan. Completed plans call for the construction of a 105,084-square-foot, three-story above grade, 35-bed medical facility; for site work for a medical facility; and water / sewer project. The purpose of this request for qualifications ("RFQ") is to acquire the services of a qualified party who possesses the qualifications and capacity to successfully undertake the design and construction ("Design Build or DB") associated with the Weyburn General Hospital Project. The Project is proposed to be located on an approximately 20-acre greenfield site on the North side of 5th Avenue North between Hamilton Street and 5th Street at 275 - 5th Avenue NW, Weyburn, Saskatchewan and will be subdivided from lot G, and lot D, plan 78R2493, W1/2 28-08-14 W as shown in Figure 1. The new hospital will include 25 acute-care beds and a 10-bed mental health in-patient unit transferred from Tatagwa View. It will also include an Emergency Medical Services garage and an adjacent heliport to support safer and more efficient patient transport. Design and Construction of a new facility to replace the existing Weyburn General Hospital on a greenfield site. The hospital will have an approximate area of 9,730 square metres, including an emergency services garage and helipad adjacent to the facility. The project includes without limitation: -demolition, removal, and disposal of the existing Weyburn General Hospital; -drainage; -utilities; -hazardous materials removal; -traffic accommodation (including any required detours) during construction; and landscaping. The Project will be consistent with SHA's Connected Care Strategy: -to inform the building design to support evidence based best practice; -reliable team-based care, by the right providers at the right time; -utilizing continuous improvements principles to reduce duplication; and, -improve patient flow and enhance patient, family, and care team communication. TIMELINE: Design Builder has been secured through an RFQ competitive process. Ground Breaking ceremony has recently taken place. Construction is currently targeted for completion December 2025. *Architect, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers are currently unreleased for publication. *CES Engineering has been secured for Commissioning Services.
