Components of the Work include, but are not limited to: Installation of Drum Dumping Enclosure 14G..443; Installation of Drum Crusher 014G..452; Installation of drum conveyers; Supply and Installation of required ductwork, fittings, blast gates, supports, etc to tie into existing dust collector 6G116.; Concrete backfill in furnace pit, bucket elevator pit, sump pits, and equipment pits; Grout repair on ground floor; Concrete mezzanine floor repair; Relocation of the Monitoring Booth; Mezzanine floor reinforcement; Modification of staircase on west side of mezzanine; Replacement of staircase for east access of mezzanine
To the following improvement:
Cameco’s Port Hope Conversion Facility (PHCF) will be transferring drummed waste from the Dorset St. property for processing and eventual transport to the Long Term Waste Management Facility (LTWMF). In order to transport this legacy waste, select drums will require repackaging by dumping into IP2 super-sacks, and crushing and disposal of the existing drums. A drum dumping and crushing station is to be setup within the operating Building 5B. The drum dumping enclosure and drum crusher has been used in earlier campaigns, and is currently stored on site. The existing ventilation system in Building 5B will be used to support the ventilation requirements for this new installation. Additionally, the mezzanine will be reinforced to provide the site additional storage areas, stairwells will be replaced to satisfy code requirements, and repairs will be made to fill openings left by previous equipment demolition work.
