Work progresses on the new Duffin Creek WPCP Stages 1 & 2 upgrades — Headworks and Influent Pumping Station in Pickering, Ont.

General contractor is Kenaidan Contracting Ltd. and the project requires construction of an influent pumping station, preliminary treatment building, flow metering building, and electrical building. The work also includes a biofilter odour control system, phosphorus removal system, flow control chambers, channels, yard piping and site services, ductbanks, aerated grit tanks, an electrical system, instrumentation and controls, and mechanical and process systems. Construction began June 2014 and is scheduled to be completed in March 2017. The owner is The Regional Municipalities of York and Durham. Prime consultant is CH2M HILL Canada Limited and the sub-consultant is AECOM Canada Ltd. Subtrades include: Deep Foundations Contractors Inc.(secant shoring); Gentile Contracting Ltd. (excavation and backfill); Clearway Construction Inc. (yard piping); Gilbert Steel Limited (rebar); Kenaidan Contracting Ltd. (concrete formwork/placement and mechanical); M.J.R. Contractors Ltd. (concrete formwork); Ontario Redimix, a division of Holcim (Canada) Inc. (concrete supply); Northern Precast Ltd. (architectural pre-cast); Lexsan Electrical Inc.(electrical);  Southwest Waterproofing and Coating Inc. (waterproofing); Black & McDonald Limited (odour control and building HVAC)and Pro Insul Limited (mechanical and process insulation).
