Work progresses on the 1860 Bayview Avenue Site Works and Building project at Bayview and Broadway Avenues in Toronto, Ont.

Pomerleau Inc. is the general contractor for the two-storey underground parking garage and a two-storey above-ground commercial building. The project began with shoring of the entire site perimeter prior to mass excavation. The concrete structure extends from the first floor to the second level of the parking garage, after which a steel structure is being erected to complete the second floor. The underground parking will accommodate approximately 200 vehicles and the ground floor will include four retail spaces and has two loading docks, whereas the second floor will be occupied by a single retail tenant. The building is serviced by three staircases, two passenger elevators and one freight elevator. All new services have been installed, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms and fire protection as well as natural gas and domestic, sanitary and storm water connections. A special feature of this building is the future green roof which will be installed on the metal decking, complete with irrigation and metal roof screens. This project also includes the widening of Bayview Avenue, as it approaches Broadview Avenue, from five to six lanes for improved access to the facility and new street lighting, traffic signage and pavement markings as well as landscaping.
