TORONTO—The Ontario Heritage Trust presented Andrew Pruss, principal of ERA Architects, Les Mallins, president of Streetcar Developments, and the project team responsible for the revitalization of the Broadview Hotel with the prestigious Lieutenant Governor’s Ontario Heritage Award for Excellence in Conservation at a ceremony at Queen’s Park recently.

The award recognizes exceptional contributions to heritage conservation as well as leadership, creativity and the positivity it fosters in its community.

"We are honoured to be the recipient of this award and thank the Ontario Heritage Trust for this recognition," said Pruss in a statement.

"The Broadview Hotel has a rich history linked to the community of Riverside and we were privileged to preserve the landmark architecture of the building for many to enjoy for years to come."

Over 36 months, the project team worked to conserve and maintain key architectural features of the 125-year-old landmark, including the circular and distinctive arched windows, decorative brickwork and the iconic tower, states a release.

The newly revitalized Romanesque Revival facade, revealed to the public in October 2016, will welcome guests to the east end beginning in spring 2017.

The Broadview Hotel will feature 58 guest rooms, event spaces, a ground floor restaurant, a lobby cafe bar and a rooftop offering unimpeded views of the cityscape.

"Receiving this award is a testament to the talented work done by ERA Architects and the entire project team and the commitment we share to honouring and respecting the history of the Broadview Hotel," said Mallins.

"We look forward to continuing our work on the Broadview Hotel and sharing its wonderful story with all."
