Niagara Falls architect Emilio Raimondo, president of Raimondo + Associates Architects Inc., has received the Niagara Construction Association’s (NCA) Ed Christensen award in recognition of his contributions to the association.
“This award means quite a lot to me,” says Raimondo, who has been active in the association for more than 23 years and is a former president. “Ed Christensen was a stalwart believer in the local construction industry.
“He made a great contribution to the association. I am honoured to be considered in his company.”
Raimondo, who was nominated by NCA board member Tyler Green of Cotton Inc., has served on the board of directors for more than 18 years.
During his tenure, Raimondo has sat on numerous committees, lent a hand with branding and design of the NCA’s current logo and helped establish an electronic plansroom to make documents readily available to members.
The first architect to serve as NCA president, Raimondo also has acted as a liaison between the association and local architects and engineers.
Raised in Thorold and educated at the University of Waterloo, Raimondo has practised in the Niagara region since 1989.
“It has always been our firm’s direction to get involved in the construction industry,” he said.
The association represents the interests of the commercial and industrial construction industry in Niagara.
“This is a great and vital organization,” Raimondo said. “It has a great board and sound management policies. It cares about the industry and is an advocate for fairness and quality. It provides tools and resources for our 300-plus members.”
The award was presented during the association’s fourth annual awards of construction excellence gala.
