Fredericton, N.B. — The Riverview operations centre project has earned exp the Pinnacle Award from the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies – New Brunswick (ACEC-NB).

The award, which was presented to exp during an awards ceremony last month in Fredericton, N.B., recognizes outstanding achievement and consulting engineering excellence.

The new 77,438-square-foot operations centre serves as a central location for the Town of Riverview’s engineering and public works staff and the parks and facilities division. With internal functionality as the main design goal, the central building comprises three radiating wings, housing office space, fleet storage space and service bays, indicates a release issued by ACEC-NB. Located on a 12-acre site, the new consolidated operations centre also includes yard facilities for sand/salt storage, cold storage and fuel pumps as well as material storage bins.

According to the release, an integrated team of professionals, including civil, electrical, mechanical and structural engineers, worked with in-house architects and sub-consultant RDH Architects to create a "rich and stimulating environment for the Town of Riverview’s staff." The building design team made careful use of site orientation to maximize energy efficiency and high insulation value in the walls and roof, adds the release. The facility is heated using a biomass boiler fed with locally supplied wood chips and boasts a state-of-the-art access security system with full Wi-Fi connectivity.

"We are proud to be the recipients of the Pinnacle Award from the ACEC-NB," says exp president and co-CEO Vlad Stritesky in a statement. "Our innovative team has done a tremendous job meeting modern and sustainable building standards and community needs on the construction of the operations centre."
