HAMILTON, ONT.—The Hamilton-Halton Construction Association’s (HHCA) Young Leaders Group (YLG) will host their first in a series of YLG Talks sessions at the Cotton Factory in downtown Hamilton on Sept. 12.
The quarterly events will showcase two speakers, one focused on emerging technology and trends in the world of construction and the second concentrating on professional development of young leaders. Each talk will be rounded out with a question and answer period as well as networking.
The brainchild of the YLG’s education sub-committee, YLG Talks offer a unique opportunity to young members of the Hamilton construction industry, states a release issued by the HHCA.
"We wanted to offer quality education and networking opportunities to YLG members," said Aaron Besseling of Besseling Mechanical, in a statement.
Besseling sits on the education sub-committee along with Moe Mahmood of Triple Crown Enterprises and Christina Murray of Budget Demolition.
"Curating our own speakers was really important: we want to ensure the topics resonate with our audience."
According to the release, the YLG is a committee of the HHCA with a mission to help future construction leaders connect, grow and succeed. The group currently has more than 150 members and regularly hosts networking events. Group membership is open to any employee of HHCA member companies under the age of 40.
