VANCOUVER
The Ontario General Contractors Association (OGCA) recently hosted its 80th AGM and conference in Vancouver.
During the event, several influencers were celebrated for the impact they have made on the construction industry.
One of the event’s most notable achievements, the Jock Tindale Memorial Award, was given to Bruce Reynolds of Singleton Urquhart Reynolds Vogel LLP for his extensive review and work on Ontario’s Construction Lien Act. The report, which was created with co-counsel Sharon Vogel, delivered 101 recommendations, 98 of which were eventually adopted and became the basis for Ontario’s Construction Act, which received royal assent last December and implemented prompt payment and adjudication mechanisms.
Reynolds has been practising construction and infrastructure law for over 30 years.
The Jock Tindale Memorial Award was created in 1998 by the OGCA to honour an individual in the industry who has demonstrated a high standard of ethics and integrity in dealings with industry participants.
The evening also honoured Paul Raboud as the outgoing chair and incoming chair John Dawson, who is the president of Gen-Pro. A lifetime achievement award was given to Eastern Construction president Frank DeCaria.
