MISSISSAUGA, ONT. — The Ontario Road Builders’ Association (ORBA) has cancelled the Ontario Asphalt Pavement Council’s annual Spring Operations Seminar that was slated for March 26 at the Scarborough Convention Centre.
The seminar is a one-day educational event featuring lectures on cutting-edge technologies and methodologies transforming the hot mix asphalt industry, indicates an ORBA release.
It was also expected to include presentations from the Ministry of Labour on what to expect in the coming year and steps to take to ensure a safe construction season.
“With the event less than three weeks away, low registration numbers, and several member companies having restrictions on employees attending events due to concerns around the COVID-19 virus, we have made the decision to cancel the seminar,” said ORBA CEO Bryan Hocking, in a statement.
“The Spring Operations Seminar is an important event for our members and industry to share knowledge and to network. Nevertheless, the health and safety of our members and greater community is our top priority and that is the reason for the cancellation.”
In lieu of the seminar, the association is planning to host webinars featuring key topics which were scheduled to be presented at the event.
More information will be provided on the future webinars as details become available.
Those who have registered will receive a full refund.
