TORONTO — The Ontario chapter of the Canadian Association of Women in Construction (CAWIC) has announced that its next webinar will address the issue of burnout.
Titled Burnout Prevention Beyond Self-Care, the seminar will be held July 14 at 7 p.m. EST.
Burnout is now recognized by the World Health Organization as a medical condition of concern, and if left unchecked, stress can lead to disease in the long term, a CAWIC release noted.
The presenter will be author Jenn Bruer, who will “unpack the dangers of stress, some mitigating factors to managing stress, and how shifting one’s ‘default mind’ can improve life experiences, reduce the body’s stress response and lead to a more fulfilling life.”
Bruer is a child and youth counsellor and a retired foster mom after 18 years of service within Toronto’s child welfare system. She acknowledges she has been on a path to burnout recovery, health and healing since 2011. Her food blog, Living Grainlessly, encourages others to reject processed foods for greater health.
Bruer sits on the advisory board of Mindful Reach and also consults and contributes to writing mindfulness curriculum for students around the world.
