Smith continues role as CaGBC board chair

OTTAWA — The Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) has announced the re-election of Stephen Smith as its board chair and the appointment of three new members to its board of directors.

A July 10 release stated, “Tony Cupido, Stephan Dery and Chris Piche bring valuable insight and perspective from key building industry sectors, enabling CaGBC to more effectively contribute to Canada’s transformation to high-performing, healthy green buildings, homes and communities.”

Cupido is the inaugural research chair for sustainability at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ont. where he oversees research on low-carbon economics and is responsible for teaching students to develop a multi-disciplinary focus on solutions to social, economic and environmental challenges, the statement said.

Dery is the assistant deputy minister of real property services at Public Services and Procurement Canada.

Piche is the regional director for east coast operations at Integral Group.

Departing board members are Joanne Perdue, University of Calgary; Conrad Schartau, Integral Group; and Jean-Rock Tourigny, Public Services and Procurement Canada.

The release stated, “CaGBC would like to thank our outgoing board members for their dedication, valued service and guidance in shaping our strategic focus.”
