156th TCA Best of the Best Awards honour renos and sky high projects
ANGELA GISMONDI - Mike Reinders of Maple Reinders Constructors Ltd. was presented with the Donald P. Giffin Sr. Construction Industry Achievement Award during the event. The award is presented to a person or organization that has benefited the construction industry through demonstrated leadership skills and major contributions to industry progress and development.

TORONTO — Rogers Centre renovations, the University Health Network Critical Infrastructure Reliability Project and Sky Canoe Headquarters and Training Centre were recognized as the best projects in 2023 by the Toronto Construction Association (TCA).

The Community Leader Award was presented to Bruce Sonnenberg of PCL Constructors Canada Inc. by 2023 TCA chair Jeff Murva and president and CEO John Mollenhauer.

The TCA hosted its 156th Annual General Meeting and Best of the Best Awards in Richmond Hill recently.

The Project Achievement Award, which pays tribute to those who raise the bar in terms of professional excellence, unique teamwork, dedication, innovation and leadership, in the large category was presented to PCL Constructors Canada Inc. for the Rogers Centre Renovations Phase 1.

In the medium category, Alberici Constructors Ltd. won a for the Zebra Mussel Control System and Lake Current Monitoring Upgrades and PCL Constructors Canada Inc. also won for the University Health Network Critical Infrastructure Reliability Project.

The Sky Canoe Headquarters and Training Centre, a project by Gillam Group, won in the small category.

Green Infrastructure Partners Inc. won the Outstanding Safety Performance Award and Atwill-Morin and Associates won the Innovation Award.

Two Green Building Culture Awards were presented to Windmill Developments and Multiplex Construction Canada and the Trade Contractor Award went to Smith and Long Ltd.

The Donald P. Giffin Sr. Construction Industry Achievement Award, presented to a person or organization that has benefited the construction industry through demonstrated leadership skills and major contributions to progress and development, was presented to Mike Reinders, Maple Reinders Constructors Ltd.

Presented to a young rising star in the construction industry, the Sean P. McKenna Young Construction Leaders Award went to Luana Buratynski from Northern Facades.

 

The University Health Network Critical Infrastructure Reliability project by PCL Constructors Canada Inc. was among the winners of the Toronto Construction Association’s Best of the Best Awards. It won a Project Achievement Award in the medium category.

The Distinguished Volunteer Award was presented to Duncan MacLellan from the City of Toronto; the Community Leader Award was presented to Bruce Sonnenberg of PCL Constructors Canada Inc.; and the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence went to Greg Dolenc, Sika Canada Inc.

The Directors Honour Roll Awards went to Brain Endacott and Greg Brokenshire, Alberici Constructors Ltd.
