ST. JOHN’S, N.L. — The Newfoundland and Labrador Construction Association (NLCA) has named its new board of directors for the 2024-25 term, effective immediately.
The new board will be led by incoming chairperson Derek Brown, taking over for the outgoing chairperson is Matthew Mallam.
Brown brings over 15 years of experience in the construction industry and has been an active member of NLCA board for over five years and has served in various roles, including as vice-chair.
The board of directors plays a crucial role in supporting and shaping the construction industry in Newfoundland and Labrador through their leadership. They are responsible for guiding the strategic direction of the NLCA, advocating for policies that benefit the industry, and ensuring the association continues to be a strong voice for its members.
The new board of directors includes the following members:

- Stephen Short, first vice-chair
- Valerie Penney, second vice-chair
- Ryan Davis, third vice-chair
- Matthew Mallam, secretary-treasurer and past chair
- Gail Ryan, director-at-large
- Tonya Knopp, director-at-large
- Matthew Craig, legal governance director
- Josh Jacobs, general contractors section chair
- Steven Hynes, director – western
- Stanley Oliver, director – labrador
- Candace Dominix, director – central
- David Cahill, electrical/mechanical contractors section chair
- Lindsay Hynes, manufacturers, supplies and services section chair
- Cory Pittman, trade contractors section chair
- Tzu-Hao Hsu, standard practices section chair
- Brandon MacDonald, heavy civil contractors section chair
- Katrina Hickey, safety committee chair
