VAUGHAN, ONT. — The Ontario Association of Foundation Specialists (OAFS) has announced Peter Smith as its new executive director.
Smith will continue to serve as chair of the board of the Residential and Civil Construction Alliance of Ontario (RCCAO) and also executive director of the Heavy Construction Association of Toronto.
“Our association has never been more relevant to the construction industry as it is today,” said Todd Barlow, president of the OAFS board, in a statement. “Aggressive infrastructure and construction plans in all sectors make it pivotal to have collaborative relationships with industry leaders. Peter is the construction professional that can take us to that next level of engagement.”
OAFS members build deep and pile foundations, construct shoring along highways, and execute deep excavations for buildings and subway stations, stated a release. OAFS members also perform marine work building docks, jetties and water intake structures.
“Peter’s veteran leadership in the industry is an invaluable asset with economic and regulatory pressures creating unique challenges and opportunities for our industry,” added Nadia Todorova, RCCAO executive director.
