HUNTINGDON, U.K. — The Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) is building its #GLAD2024 content and plans in preparation for Global Lifting Awareness Day (GLAD) on July 18.
A campaign has been running since the beginning of the year with LEEA members, manufacturers and suppliers leading those sharing material promoting safe and high quality load lifting across the world. Social media posts, videos, articles and in-person activity are using the hashtag #GLAD2024.
Highlights for July 18 are a new LEEA film and an unaired conversation with Ross Moloney, CEO at LEEA. Other features will include a series of short video interviews with a representative of CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, one of the world’s largest and most respected centres for scientific activity; a champion of women in construction, and ambassador for apprenticeships, cranes, skills and training; a celebrated health and safety professional; and a Tier 1 construction contractor.
This year’s GLAD will be successful in part because of what’s been happening already, Maloney said in a statement, adding social media is awash with #GLAD2024 content.
“It is a campaign where people are being innovative, and it feels more like a show-and-tell this year rather than just a tell,” said Maloney. “The poster campaign that LEEA has put out is an example of that, looking at where we’ve come from and wondering where we’ll go next. We will continually launch content in the run-up to encourage people to create their own material — and I’m thrilled at the number of companies who tell me what they’re planning.”
