TORONTO—Vaughan, Ont.-based GFL Environmental Inc. has announced that its subsidiary GFL Excavating Corp. has completed the acquisition the Anchor Shoring Group of Toronto effective Jan. 16.
In a media statement, GFL said that acquiring Anchor will expand GFL’s service mix, adding earth retention and foundation systems to the soil remediation, excavation and demolition capabilities of GFL’s infrastructure services group. The purchase will strengthen GFL’s ability to compete for infrastructure, commercial and residential projects, says the statement.
The Anchor Group includes Anchor Shoring & Caissons Ltd., Banner Piling & Excavating Limited and Crown Drilling Limited. Known for providing innovative engineering solutions and proactive site management, says the media statement, "the Anchor Shoring Group is a market leader in the safe design and installation of soil retention and engineered foundations, having completed over 4,500 projects in Ontario, Quebec, Eastern Canada and beyond."
Projects that Anchor has worked on include the Airport Rail Link, Air Canada Centre, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, TTC York-Spadina subway extension, OPG Darlington and TTC Yonge and Leslie Stations. GFL is described as a "diversified environmental services company providing a comprehensive lineup of solid waste, soil remediation, and liquid waste services."
