AURORA, ONT. — Piramal Enterprises Limited, a Mumbai-based pharmaceutical firm, has launched a $25-million expansion of its plant in Aurora, Ont.

The new wing at Piramal’s Pharma Solutions operations will be dedicated to manufacturing Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), stated a Jan. 28 release. The 10,500 square feet of new manufacturing space will also include filtration and drying systems and two new reactor suites.

The expansion is expected to be completed and operational by April 30, 2021.

Piramal Pharma Solutions is a contract development and manufacturing organization, offering end-to-end development and manufacturing solutions across the drug life cycle, stated the release.

“This additional capacity will help us to strengthen our presence in Canada as well as service other geographies such as North America and Europe,” said Piramal CEO Peter DeYoung in the statement.
