TORONTO — Toronto-based construction software firm CMiC has announced it has formed a joint venture with ALEC Engineering and Contracting LLC of Dubai, with ALEC now committed to using CMiC’s proprietary enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to run its financials and field operations.
ALEC said in a May 5 release it evaluated several ERP systems before selecting CMiC.
CMiC’s Single Database Platform architecture is said to deliver a “single version of truth” to users across all functional areas. It is the only ERP solution built specifically for construction.
ALEC is active throughout the Middle East and CMiC will be setting up a regional headquarters office in Dubai.
“We relied heavily on a host of standalone applications to compensate for the limitations of our legacy ERP,” remarked Henry Loubser, ERP manager at ALEC. “We needed a platform that would consolidate, standardize, integrate and automate, which CMiC has demonstrated with their impressive customer roster, proven R and D track record and unparallelled industry expertise.”
Gord Rawlins, president and CEO of CMiC, commented, “This decision represents a strategic investment for both companies. We expect to give ALEC significant operational advantages to support unprecedented growth and scalability, while they will provide CMiC with a strong entry point into the construction software market of the region.”
