Housing announcement set for Ottawa
The federal government and the City of Ottawa will be making what is being called a major announcement related to housing in Ottawa this morning. Mayor of Ottawa Jim Watson, the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities Catherine McKenna and Minister of Families, Children and Social Development Ahmed Hussen will be on hand for the announcement.
Boost for New Brunswick schools
The governments of Canada and New Brunswick have announced spending of $2 million through the Climate Action Incentive Fund to boost energy efficiency in five of the province’s schools. Priestman Street School, in Fredericton, will receive $647,000 to install energy-recovery ventilators and improve its insulation; Woodstock High School, in Woodstock, will receive $520,000 to improve ventilation-control systems and its insulation; and Ecole Sainte-Anne, in Fredericton, will receive $500,000 to upgrade its heating system and ventilation-control systems.
Rockwool targets deep GHG cuts
Danish firm Rockwool, a manufacturer of stone wool products, yesterday announced new decarbonization targets that will include cutting factory greenhouse gas emissions by 38 per cent by 2034. The targets have been verified and approved by the Science Based Targets initiative and amount to a one-third reduction of Rockwool’s lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by that year.
BlackNorth Initiative plans forum for Dec. 17
Several partners active in the Toronto commercial real estate sector have announced the second part of a multi-series program on Racism and Exclusion in the Workplace, a forum set for Dec. 17. The event is billed as Part Two: The BlackNorth Initiative and the Black Opportunity Fund: How the CRE Industry can get Involved. Supporters include Realpac, BOMA Toronto, CoreNet Global Canadian Chapter, NAIOP Greater Toronto Chapter, SIOR Canada Central Chapter, Toronto CREW, ULI Toronto and KingSett Capital.
