Aluminum association praises Quebec essential sectors decision

The Aluminium Association of Canada (AAC) issued a statement today saying it welcomes the Quebec government’s decision to maintain operations for its sector during the expanded lockdown. “It is with a heightened sense of responsibilities incumbent on us as employers and leading regional players, as well as with great satisfaction, that the primary aluminium industry welcomes the new measures announced by the Government of Quebec regarding the lockdown for the next four weeks,” stated Jean Simard, president and CEO of the AAC, in a statement. 

 

Usewalter opens Toronto stock exchange

Montreal-based Usewalter Inc. marked the completion of a rebranding and pivoting effort by participating in the opening of the Toronto stock exchange Jan. 6. Usewalter provides smart building technology services with SaaS for property managers and residents in high-density urban environments. The technology is billed as “’the one app no one can live without.” 

 

CPP Investments subsidiary targets Finnish wind farms

The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board today announced it has committed up to 245million euros to its U.K.-based platform Renewable Power Capital (RPC) Limited in support of RPC’s first investment in European renewables. RPC has committed to acquire a 100-per-cent interest in a portfolio of three windfarms in Finland from OX2. OX2 will construct the wind farms under an EPC contract and will be responsible for the technical and commercial management of the farms. 

 

RAIC to present accessibility panel

The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and the U.S. Embassy in Canadawill be presenting an online panel discussion Jan. 21 to discuss progress on accessibility issues from an architectural perspective. Canadian architect Annie Boivin and American architect Karen Braitmayer will lead the discussions. 

 

HHCA schedules 2021 Forecast 

The Hamilton-Halton Construction Association will hold its 2021 Forecast presentation online Jan. 19 to 21. Presenters will include the Hamilton-Oshawa Port Authority, the Town of MiltonMcMaster Innovation Park, City of Hamilton Facilities and FleetConstructConnect and the City of Hamilton Economic Development department.
